About Next Ocean

Next Ocean is the pioneering developer of Vessel Motion Radar technology. We develop software that turns any marine radar into a powerful remote wave sensor that scans the surrounding sea and predicts how the observed waves will propagate and warns for big waves and resulting extreme ship motions. Our systems empower crews at sea to anticipate dangerous motions up to four minutes in advance - day and night.

Our mission is to help vessel crews operate in a safe and efficient manner by knowing upcoming waves and vessel motions, minutes in advance. With the product gaining traction, and the rapid expansion of our client base, we are looking for talented, motivated, and passionate engineers to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Research & Implementation Engineer who combines a strong analytical mindset with solid software engineering skills. In this role, you will investigate and re-analyze data and observations from the field in pursuit of making our product perform even better, while also turning promising research ideas into working software. This is a role for someone who enjoys both the detective work and the satisfaction of shipping something new that clients can use.

Key Responsibility

Investigate field data and observations of product performance using a structured, analytical approach. Develop and implement software based on research ideas, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers

What skills are we looking for?

• Strong analytical and investigative capabilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing complex problems
• Solid software implementation skills (ex. Python, C++), with the ability to take an idea from concept to working code
• Background in a relevant field such as applied mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science
• Affinity with maritime or offshore domains is a plus
