At Workwize, we’re looking for a Data Engineer Intern who’s eager to learn and excited to contribute to our operations team. In this role, you'll have the chance to work in our Technical Operations team, developing foundational skills in programming and data engineering. If you're curious, proactive, and ready to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, this internship is a great fit for you!

As a Data Engineer Intern, your tasks will include supporting the management and optimization of operational processes, using tools and platforms to automate tasks (in Javascript, Python, MySQL). You'll learn how to design data-driven solutions that improve workflows, helping to enhance our internal processes and service quality. Collaborating with a close-knit team of under 10 engineers, you’ll be involved in various stages of our process lifecycles, contributing to efficiency and scalability in real-world operations.

Your role

This opportunity has three openings spread across two roles:

  1. Operations Data Engineer 2x
  2. Finance Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer, your day-to-day tasks will involve managing, optimizing and automating operational processes using low-code tool building platforms. You will be responsible for creating and implementing data solutions for processes to meet the needs of our internal and external stakeholders.

During the internship, you will:

  • Contribute to solving real-world problems and streamlining processes that enhance our company from day one

  • Collaborate dynamically with various teams within the company to define and address issues

  • Develop entire applications from scratch, connected to live business data and other operational software

  • Operations Data Engineer:
    • Build tools and set up processes for the new operational features we release
    • Improve connections and teamwork with our 3PL partners, such as warehouses and logistical service providers
    • Uphold and improve high data quality by creating accurate and rigorous processes

  • Finance Data Engineer:
    • Enhance and overhaul visibility and usability of financial data across company tools and processes
    • Build dashboards and develop optimal processes around internal servicing of financial data
    • Develop and monitor practical and efficient solutions for our growing finance team

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Interest in applying technical skills to create practical, value-driven solutions.

  • Operations Data Engineer:
    • In the final stages of or having completed a Master's degree in Engineering or a related field
    • Python/Javascript and SQL experience (academic experience is allowed)

  • Finance Data Engineer:
    • In the final stages of or having completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance Engineering or a related field
    • Experience in any object-oriented language
